China Targets 2030 for National Blockchain Network and Regional Hubs
China has officially set a 2030 target to complete a nationwide blockchain infrastructure under its 15th Five-Year National Informatization Plan, issued by the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission.
Rather than focusing on public cryptocurrencies, China’s policy establishes blockchain as a core industrial and data backbone integrated with artificial intelligence, data circulation, and 6G communications.
🔑 Key Highlights of the 2030 Plan:
National Backbone & Infrastructure: Development of a central blockchain network connected to operating regional hubs, supported by distributed digital identity (DID) services and privacy-preserving computing.
Commercial & Industrial Integration: Deployment across international trade, maritime shipping, supply chain logistics, government affairs, taxation, and carbon reduction initiatives.
Regional Development Framework:
Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei: Smart logistics and dual-airport hub coordination.
Yangtze River Delta: Advanced blockchain integration in cross-border trade and finance.
Greater Bay Area: Orderly cross-border data flows and seamless public services.
Chengdu-Chongqing: Large-scale commercial applications in manufacturing, commerce, and agriculture.
Digital Yuan (e-CNY) Expansion: Continuous adoption of the central bank digital currency (CBDC), with 30 approved banking operators, operating alongside data security policies without a forced integration timetable.
Economic Target: Aims for core digital economy industries to contribute 12.5% of China’s GDP by 2030.
